PUNE: In a cordial meeting at Raj Bhavan, Itanagar, the Governor of Arunachal Pradesh, Lt. General (Retd.) Kaiwalya Trivikram Parnaik, PVSM, UYSM, YSM (Retd.), and Prakash Divakaran, vice-chancellor of Himalayan University, engaged in a detailed discussion on advancing higher education, innovation, and research-led development in the state.The Governor and the VC exchanged views on strengthening academic collaboration between universities and government institutions to align with the state’s vision for knowledge-based growth. They spoke about the need to encourage youth participation in research, promote entrepreneurship among students, and integrate local knowledge systems with contemporary academic frameworks.Governor Parnaik emphasised the importance of developing universities in Arunachal Pradesh as “centres of excellence that contribute to both national progress and regional empowerment.” He appreciated Himalayan University’s ongoing efforts to promote inclusive and skill-oriented education, particularly in remote and tribal regions.Divakaran highlighted the university’s initiatives in fostering research partnerships, digital learning ecosystems, and faculty development programmes aimed at preparing students for global opportunities while staying rooted in regional aspirations.
He also briefed the Governor on the university’s upcoming academic collaborations and social outreach projects.The meeting reflected a shared commitment to building a robust higher education ecosystem in Arunachal Pradesh—one that combines innovation, ethics, and community service.During the interaction, Divakaran presented a newly published book to the Governor as a token of academic goodwill.The discussion concluded with mutual appreciation and an assurance of continued collaboration to strengthen education and research for the holistic development of the state.
